I began my teaching career in the late 1990s, teaching both GCSE and A-level Psychology. Over the years, I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, an examiner and a subject leader—roles that have deepened my understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to support students effectively.
I’ve also guided students through their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) and UCAS applications, helping them craft personal statements that reflect their strengths and ambitions.
After many years in the classroom, I launched LESSONing the Load. I initially combined working in a school (as an English tutor) and running my tuition business, offering support both in-person and online. However, at the start of the Covid pandemic, I decided to leave the school setting to concentrate on private tuition and I moved fully online, and I’ve remained there ever since—supporting students across the UK.
My sessions are tailored, structured and supportive. Whether a student needs help boosting a grade, building confidence or mastering exam technique, I adapt my teaching to meet them where they are.
I create a warm, relaxed learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and challenge themselves. I mix clear explanations, past paper practice, memory techniques and discussion-based learning—helping students not just pass exams but truly understand their subjects.
I live in North Yorkshire with my husband, our three cats, and a very excitable dog. I’m also a proud mum to a grown-up son, who still makes regular weekend appearances... with his washing!
Alongside tutoring, I run Myrtle Moon Therapies, working online as a clinical therapist specialising in anxiety. My experience in both education and therapy gives me a unique perspective—I understand how anxiety can affect learning and confidence, and I know how to help.
I’m also vegan, adore being in nature, and love unwinding with a good cup of tea and an episode of Motherland—my go-to show after a busy day of helping students thrive.
Whether your son or daughter is aiming for a top grade or just needs a confidence boost, I’d love to support their journey.
